Am I on the Titanic..or am I in Rome?

Day #2!

I wasn't playing around this day. I was bound to get some good food, good schedule, and see a bunch of stufffff. "Take a recommendation once in a while" I told myself. That was done so breakfast would be a Mama Angela's Trattoria. So glad I ceded for more reasons than one. That breakfast was so good and I got like juice, sausage, apple juice, and a cornetto for like 5 euro. That was good enough for me. After waiting for Melissa for like ever and an eternity, David our waiter at Mama's gave us a bunch of good places to go see.

We started on the Imperial Forum which was decent and headed to the super gorgeous Vittorrio Emanuele. It's like this amazing marble building that serves as a museum now but it has some pretty cool guards and statues, as is the case all throughout Rome. They even had a Holocaust/WWII exhibit that I appreciated a lot. Another plus is that it was free! Nice little stop. From here, all the navigation got kinda iffy to say the least. Bus, metro, walk, what the hell do we take Italian stallion? But you put two minds together and something ends up working out after all.

We basically just took the metro down to the cool stuff. There's only two freaking lines in all of the center of Rome anyway. But never fear taxes are here! They are building a third line as we speak, so add green to the red and blue lines...soon anyways. Next stop was Piazza del Popolo. This is the area that will make you want to live in Rome for sure. At least it did for us, it's just chic enough to where you remember that you're still in Rome but it also has a really warm, cozy, sit-yo-ass-on-the-couch-watchin-some-good-ass-movies-with-candy feel to it. And if I'm not mistaken this area was designed into one of the James Bond video from the original Xbox. I was obsessed with this area. I'm moving here. It may seem quick to you but this was a whole bunch of walking and carrying on so it was time to mange! Guess who came to the rescue like always, TripAdvisor. They are so on their game. I will advise to read the comments because in a city so frequented like Rome almost every restaurant will have TripAdvisor tag so you have to start paying attention to their rankings and how recent their most positive post was posted.

LE SEGRETE, LE SEGRETE, LE SEGRETE, LE SEGRETE. I can't say it enough. I loved this place is basically on the way towards the Parthenon and Piazza Navona. Let me preface by saying that I definitely spent more money on food in Rome than I did on clothes. Surprising right? Well don't make me no nevermind. I decided that I was gonna dive into a plate of gnocchi, the potato pasta. Then I did the unthinkable. I ordered a second dish! When in Rome right? Melissa can attest to this but when I ate these polpette alla Romana, I had some kind of emotional experience. Food can transport you to a euphoric state or else there wouldn't be overweight people. Needless to stay, weed couldn't have gotten me higher than that. I was on a meatball induced drug overdose and I didn't care if I recovered. Ok, enough about food. We rolled our fat hinds out of there to get back to the other side of the center where we were living. It was time to hit up the Parthenon and Piazza Navona. Roller-coaster of emotions start....NOW. Two of the most amazing areas in Rome for sure. The Parthenon had me wondering how in the hell people just built these massive structures and it was so normal and I can only imagine how it looked before father time's raggedy ass came in and toyed with stuff. Ass is my favorite word today. Thanks Beyoncé, now they gon' rate me PG. Believe me when I say that photos don't give these building their proper respect.

Piazza Navona, damn you. It was another perfect place in Rome. No picture necessary, video is so much better. Pride aside we was sittin there like two babies and this man playing "My Heart Will Go On" was not helping at all. It's really one of those times where you realize the life you have is unique and so desired. There are people that may never get the opportunity to travel the world, experience everyone else's cultures, fall in love (not so much), eat a ton, and do what our heart desires. We've been doing this for the past four months and I am in awe of my own experiences and can see that the irreplaceable moments I have had. Years ago, I couldn't imagine any of this but to finally be at a place appreciating myself and living in a world with y'all I couldn't have predicted a better future. Fuck B stop the emotional lyrics..sorry y'all.

"ooh sometimes I wanna walk in your shoes do the things I'll never ever do" -- Jealous

Stay tuned for the rest of my Rome experiences as a lone soldier!

Later peeps.

*I can't believe I missed one of the coolest things I've ever seen in my posting of this day. So when Melissa and I got back closer to the Coliseum after seeing Piazza Navona we walked around to try and get night shots of the Coliseum and guess what was there!? How about a concert with projections on the walls of the Coliseum. This made for an immaculate ending to a great day! Here is a video of what we saw.
